Winterfest 5k Fun Run

My family has made it a tradition to do the Winterfest fun run in LaVerkin each year. This was our first year doing it and it was such a fun one. We came the night before to surprise my family who didn't know we were planning on running it with them. I had packed us all nice warm running clothes, our pajamas and tooth brushes, all my make up and my running shoes in a duffel bag and headed to Hurricane. As we are headed in I went to grab the duffle bag and realized I had left it by the front door at home. :( I have been slowly losing my mind lately as it is filled up with Chemistry and History. Anyway, it was a total bummer. I hate it when stuff like that happens. I like being prepared.

The next morning we woke up bright and early and grabbed anything warm that grandma and grandpa could find. We then headed to the park for the snowflake scavenger hunt. The boys had a blast scouting out the snowflakes they wanted then running to the prize table to claim their prize. We made quite the killing. I got a $25 gift card to a new restaurant in town, Taylor won a cute little backpack, and the other three chose big gatorades. lol

Please don't mind how ugly I look. The makeup was in the bag with my shoes. I walked the 5k with Aaron, Grandma, baby Grace in my snow boots. haha.

Decorating Christmas Cookies

 I started my first semester back to school and to be honest... it's really tough. It has taken so much more time and a lot more effort than I had initially thought possible, but I made it through the first semester. I missed playing with my kids so as soon as it ended I needed to be back to the fun mommy they have been missing.  We started the fun in December by decorating Christmas cookies.

The twins were really quite serious about it and made the night entertaining.

 They all had so much fun and we all giggled the night away. I think that was partially due to the amount of candy that did NOT make it onto the cookies and ended up in our mouths. That, and the fact that I have little boys. That means that at least one of the cookies ended up with a penis on it. I couldn't help but just laugh along with them.

Vegas Fun

Rhett was able to come last week and spend some time with his boys. They love him so much. I'm glad he came and played. He spoiled them like crazy and I'm sort of regretting their behavior this week, but they had a blast with their Daddy. 

Driving him back to the airport we met up with our good friends in Las Vegas. The Lohnaas family was a huge part of our lives while we lived in California. We have kids the same ages and spent countless hours together. We even planned our last kids together. What were we thinking? lol. They truly are amazing friends. It's fun when you can meet up with old friends and just pick up exactly where you left off.

On the way back home we met up with Justin and did the Natural History Museum and had some IHOP. He is always so fun to see. 

New Start

I have to say that I have really been struggling lately. I got divorced and am really having a hard time finding the purpose of my life now. I have never really been a sad or depressed person, but I have been feeling pretty down lately.

I feel like my biggest problem is that I planned this amazing life with Rhett and now that we aren't together I am feeling a little empty. He was my best friend for 12 years and it's hard to turn off feelings completely. I know it will just take time, but it has been much harder than I thought it would be. I truly wish Rhett happiness with his new life and I know we will always be apart of each other's lives because we have amazing kids together. That is a light in my life right now.

I just made some big decisions about a place to live for the boys and I and have decided to try to live without Facebook for awhile. I need to focus my attention on my kids and be the best Mom that I can be. I truly want to raise amazing boys and teach them what life is really about. I also don't need the drama that comes along with Facebook.

So with that being said, I am going to start blogging again. I want to remember these times with the boys. I want to look back and know that I was the best person that I could be during the hard times of my life and the easy times. I want them to know that they are my whole world, and I want them to be happy and enjoy life.

Wish me luck on this crazy new adventure of growing up.

Family Night-

My parents have been awesome about always doing family night. Grandma always has a fun lesson and activity planned. The kids favorite part is the TREAT. :)

This time the activity and treat went together and we made smores. YUMMY!

The kept catching their marshmallows on fire and having to blow them out. I was cracking up. I personally like mine nice and brown. Cooked perfectly! :)

Seriously so much fun. We also learned about fire safety. :)

It's fun to cook marshmallows, but my favorite part was definitely sticking them on a couple graham crackers and chocolate then shoving them in my mouth. Yum! It was such a fun, sticky mess!

Grandpa is such a teaser. He had just got done with a bike ride and poured a little water on Taylor's head. It was funny.

The twins started kindergarten this year and love it. They learned to write their names and love spelling their sight words to me over and over again. They love to have hot lunch and love when I pick them up. They run to the car as soon as they see me. :)

Taylor is in first grade and is so smart. He loves to come home and do homework and it is so nice not to have to fight him to do it. His teacher loves his little personality and says he is one of her favorite students because he is so sweet. He is such a good boy! :)


Carter is in fourth grade this year and hates that the homework load has picked up. He is the opposite of Taylor and it is like pulling teeth to get him to do it. :( He is such a cutie though and is very popular with the ladies this year. That may or may not be a bad thing. I'm still deciding. lol. They all are so sweet though and I'm glad they are in my family!

Fun with Melanie

The kids and I got to spend some fun time with Melanie exploring St. George and taking a picnic up to see Grandpa's grave. It is always so much fun spending time with her. She truly is just like a mom to me and I enjoy every minute we get together. It helps that the kids absolutely ADORE her.

The kids thought this was hilarious. 

We totally needed to grab a drink and cool off. It reminded me of my Mom buying us a sarsaparilla when I was a little girl. It's funny how things can trigger memories like that. :)

It was a long drive. We stopped for a picnic lunch and potty break. lol. It was such a peaceful, fun day. I need to do more things like this with the little boys. They loved getting out into nature and just enjoying the fresh air. :)

Melanie is such a rule breaker. :) Actually, we saw this sign after we were already done. It cracked me up!

It was nice to see Grandpa's grave. We haven't been up to Panguitch since his funeral.
